For oily skin, apply a dime-sized amount to your face, avoiding the eye area, using your fingertips or the Soft Focus Brush.
For combination skin, apply a pea-sized amount to oil-prone areas like the T-zone.

I’ve worn this primer for a couple of years now, as I turned the corner on 50. I thought recently that I might find a less expensive substitute. So I ordered something that sounded similar with great reviews on Amazon. I noticed a couple of things right away—the texture of Alima’s Primer is substantial without being heavy. The substitute was barely there. Alima’s covered well enough that its matte finish completely masked that I coat my face in oil as a first facial step. At my age, it’s totally necessary! With Alima’s primer, my makeup does go on smoother and while both primers are colorless, the competitor’s left my skin looking sallow just hours after I’d applied it—like I’d forgotten blush and maybe smoked a pack (which I don’t!). At the end of the day, the makeup remover wipe tells the real story. With Alima’s primer, I am wiping a significant amount of foundation off at night. The other primer barely tinged the wipe with color. I’m done testing. Wasted $45 to convince myself that what I had been doing was actually the best choice. Spend the money. You’re worth it!

It might help slightly, but it’s hard to tell. I bought it to try to help the powder foundation from accentuating my forehead fine lines. I did half of my face with the primer and the applied my makeup and it was pretty hard to tell if it helped at all. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Love this primer! I was looking for something that would help keep my loose power from separating from my skin throughout the day as it gets oily but also wouldn’t irritate my sensitive skin, and this does both perfectly. It keeps my makeup in place, and I’ve never noticed any irritation at all. I love that it’s fragrance free since fragrance it a big irritation trigger for me. It doesn’t 100% keep my skin from looking shiny as the day goes on, though it does help a lot. For addition oil control, I top off my face with a dusting of a silica based powered, and that takes care of the additional shine. I do agree with other reviews that it’s best to dot this on in small areas and then rub in for best coverage.
